How can you hunt for food if you do not take time to develop a strategy? Prospecting works the exact same way. Prospecting is often referred to as the ” Lifeblood of Selling”. This is the area that most sales people do not like to spend their time. Prospecting is the skill of closers. Prospecting is the most important skill that we can develop to becoming successful. There is a reluctance to Prospecting as it is hard work. It is not difficult to peak the curiosity of a prospect but it is hard work calling many prospects to creating those opportunities.

If you do not like prospecting, than you need to be in Sales where you can rely on inbound prospects calling on you. This would mean that you are meant for Retail rather than direct sales such as business to business.

You can teach a fisherman to hunt but it doen not make him a hunter.
