Sales people have become ashamed of their career choice. Many people in our profession have requested titles from their employers that disguise their roles and duties from what they really are.
I am a sales professional. It is something that I am proud of. I have to admit that there are many connotations and stereotypes created by society on the perception of the sales profession. In many training sessions, I ask sales people to describe their personal vision of how they see other sales people. The remarks and comments are amazing. I have heard statements referring to the dislike of the aggressive pushy behaviour, the dishonesty, the egotistical approach and laziness of sales people that are working in our profession. It is amazing that we are able to view so many people from our profession with such disgust and yet become frustrated with the prospect that may not treat us accordingly when we are professional with honest intent.
